Hi everyone. I'm a week " on the other side " today and I'm doing

pretty well. My swelling has gone down signficantly and I have a

bit of bruising under my chin (I had my lower jaw set back 5 mm),

but other than that I am surviving.

Saw my OS on Tuesday and I complained of my continuous feelings of

nausea. He said that it could be due to the medications (on Tuesday

I was still taking the Tylenol w/codeine and my penicillan) or the

fact that I wasn't eating enough. No kidding!

Anyway, I've hit 2 " mini walls " so far. I haven't had complete

breakdowns, but I've had several crying fits about why did I do

this...etc.

Anyway, my greatest struggle has been with the liquid diet. I am

wired shut for another week and then my OS will " tightly band " me

for another 4 weeks. Basically, I have to survive 5 more weeks on a

liquid/strained diet and I am nauseous all the time.

Has anyone else felt like this? I'm hoping that it is just my body

trying to get used to a totally new style of eating but I'm not

sure. I don't have a sweet tooth so drinking milkshakes and Ensure

and Boost and Protein shakes are something that I fight gagging to

get down.

To top this all of, I have a texture issue as my family puts it.

Basically, I gag over weird textures. I guess it's something that

the state of my mouth will force me to get over.

My husband has put me on an eating plan where I am eating a

protein/yogurt/soy shake or a blended soup every 2hours to prevent

nausea.

Any suggestions for the nausea or good liquid diet meals to

consider? Does anyone know if there is such a thing as

an " adjustment period " to a liquid diet? Does it get better?!?!?!

Help!

Helen
