Guest guest
Yes I certainly will be running around very soon with my head cut off and yes I am a professional so I am used to the pace. I have to travel about 100 miles for all of my pre-surgical, surgery, and post- surgery appointments. Of course I am sure than many others if not all are in the same boat! One thing that I was amazed in my packet of information was the fact that I'm not supposed to lift more than 5 pounds for the first 4 weeks after surgery. Makes me glad that I'm taking six weeks off after my surgery! > > > > > Hi all! I have upper, lower, and palate expansion surgery on > > > > August > > > > > 17th after over two years with braces. Guest guest
Woooooooooooooooow......six whole recovering weeks........six whole weeks..................ok, I snapped out of it. But that's great for you Tom! Yes, a little jealous. I have a lot on my shoulders, but 'I'm the type'. Hmm! just figured- I think the last time I had 6 wks to myself (i.,e. not working) was...pre-1997...before that....early 90's maybe during the semester just full time school.so I think I'm very jealous. Not to be nosey, but do you " have the time " to take or are you doing disability? No one here seems to talk about this stuff much. (part of the reason I have barely 2 wks off is that I am taking vaca time...NO STD/LTD here-we're a " small Business " and they don't have any legal obligation to offer ANY-the state--it's just silly...ready $170 per week...not really going to work for me. and let's not forget, my desk will be on the Pres' while I am out...and that you " just don't want " -he's great but that's just calling for drama.) Still I can't wait, bec none of this is nearly as impt then the long term and pain free life I hope to lead post-post-op. So what do you do? Have to talk a lot? I do...exec recruiter-so going to LOVE my email to death! The good thing here is also that they've been rather flex w/me and apts...heck next week-3 apts so far...leaving early or coming in late, plus lots of planning and resp here as my computer crashed and I lost all Monday (don't even want to go there)...so yes, crazy busy! again, why I am so looking forward to my couch and recliner GOod thing is all but the blood donating are about 20 miles from home...100mi sounds tricky...do you have your own car or is it a P/trns thing? I pushed away from this yrs ago bec I was told to go to Manhattan and I was like-???!?!!! no freakin-way! that commute would be too much for me if I were in serious discomfort. Now I can't remember your date again, remind me please. Jo > > > > > > Hi all! Guest guest
Yes six whole weeks! The people at my State Government office won't even recognize me with the weight loss and change of facial features! I support email and we have other staff that can step in (I hope they don't step in something!). As the senior member of our team I do communicate alot so being back early just wouldn't be very effective. I have hundreds of hours of sick leave built up from over two decades for working for the State so time off is not an issue. Email, Yahoo Messenger, and Groups will be a good friend for awhile! It's really nice to have an employer who is flexible for all of the appointments that we have to go to. In my case I live in the capital city and my appointments are in the bay area where the surgeon is. That's just how it goes. I will be driving there and probably staying the night prior to surgery on August 17th in a hotel close by. Remind me when your date is again. Tom > > > > > > > Hi all!
