,

I'm guessing the tears have as much to do with your overall stress as

with the midline issue. All in all, you're going through at least 3

of the biggest stress inducers in life. The five biggies are death of

a loved one, career change, change in marital status, birth of a

child, and relocation. I'd think major surgery might come in a close

sixth, so your overall stress level is WAY up there.

After you get the results from your OS on the chin issue, I'd like

you to consider usin Dammit's 10/90 rule. It's fairly simple. Life

is 10% the stuff that happens, and 90% how you react to it. Since

you can't control the 10%, control the 90%.

Take something small like a rude driver who cuts you off on your way

to work. You can either vent at that person in a completely

emotional way, ruining perhaps your whole day, or CHOOSE how to

react. If you choose to vent, then it's a choice. If you choose

instead to decide that maybe that person was on the way to sit by the

side of a dying loved one, or late for a job interview, or whatever,

and then choose not to react to the rude driver, you've probably

saved yourself a lot of frustration.

So, all in all, with the 10/90 rule, if you choose how you'll react,

instead of letting your emotions run wild, it makes life a lot less

complicated. With all you're going through now, it might help. In

any event, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Dammit, You make a good point, but in a situation such as this it's

hard not just getting through everything going on, not even thinking

that something so major may have to be redone. Majorly overwhelmed

and i am miss organization, it's just too much at one time, nothing

that can be taken off my plate. i have to deal, period. Oh well.

I talked with my surgeon and told him what i thought. He is in

surgery tomorrow and i have an appt with him next TUes, so we will

discuss it then after a critical evaluation of my face by him. He

said since my upper, lower and chin all seem to be in alignment, it

is possible that the upper jaw was reattached too far over to one

side. Frig - just my freakin luck, i swear.

I wish i could hear back from the other person on this site that had

to have the surgery again 6 months later due to being way too off

center. If you're reading this, please respond.

That's it folks, i'll write more after i see him on TUes. I am

curious to know if my ortho noticed it. i see him next thurs,

something makes me think he did as he " played " with my face a LOT

last visit.

Message Irish! -- she's posted here in recent weeks, although she

often goes for a time without getting online. She had the surgery

redone, although I cannot remember whether it was specifically owing

to midlines. I'm thinking it was.

Best I recall, the second round of surgery was a lot easier for her,

although she had some issues with some of the meds she was given.

You might also do an archive search for her posts.

If it's any consolation to you - and it may not be -- my midlines are

off, and nobody is at all worried, least of all, me. My upper teeth

are larger than the lowers, and I have lost more downstairs, I think,

than upstairs. I asked, and was told not to worry, that my face lines

up just fine. Which, for me, is a good answer.

I do know that a lot of other folks have had midlines that were off,

then were adjusted by elastics. I haven't read your posts leading up

to this last one, and I'm not trying to counteract anything any of

your docs has told you. Just giving you what my feeble memory offers.

Cammie, Thanks for your note. It was Irish and i thought i sent her a

note but now cannot find it. I will do that archive search you said,

have never tried that before. went back a ways to find some of her

posts, but may not have gone back far enough.

If it was just my teeth (midlines), i would not be as concerned, but

it is my jaw or chin that is not below my nose, say. That is kind of

obvious, i think. I think my situation sounds similar to Irish's i

just need to find a way to contact her.

Thanks for your feedback. You are thorough and caring. katie
