Guest guest
Hey everyone- I have a drs appointment at 1030 so im going to definitly ask about this, but i just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience... Last night, (day 6 post op- i had my upper jaw expanded, lower jaw pushed to the left and back, plus my chin shaved), all of a sudden I started to feel nauseated and i threw up. Surprisingly, this did not hurt my jaw as much as i thought, it actually hurt my hip where i got the bone graph done more. So today is the morning of day 7, and i dont feel like i have to throw up yet, but i still have that nauseated feeling. I never felt like this until last night. Has this happened to anyone else?? I am taking Lortb every 3 hours for pain, as well as flexeril twice a day. Im thinking maybe its the meds that make me feel like this, but why did it take a week for this reaction? ive been taking the lortab exactly every 3 hours since ive been out of the hospital because i cant stand the pain. Thanks for your opinions! Vikki
Guest guest
-- Hi Vikki, I doubt its the meds making you sick. You have been on them for a week without any problems. Maybe you got a viral bug. Are you eating and drinking okay? If you get dehyrated you can get nauseated also. Ask your OS what he/she thinks. Hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
Vikki, are you saying that you threw up WITH your mouth still closed? wow. I thought they give sissors to open up if you're going to be sick...fill me in and FEEL BETTER! ps--if you're nasueaoussssss, I would suggest to keep with fluids yes, but water may not be the best,....according to my dr, it can just delute and in turn expand the not-so-good stuff in yoru belly and make you feel more pukey...syrup items (i.e soda-flattened) will aid in pushing the yucky stuff down through your body. jo > > > Hey everyone- > > > I have a drs appointment at 1030 so im going to definitly ask > > about > > > this, but i just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar > > > experience... > > > Last night, (day 6 post op- i had my upper jaw expanded, lower > jaw > > > pushed to the left and back, plus my chin shaved), all of a > sudden > > I > > > started to feel nauseated and i threw up. Guest guest
Jo- Yes, i threw up WITH my mouth still closed, not fun at all. My boyfriend was freaking out saying i need to try and not throw up because my mouth is tied up. BUt all ive been havng is liquids so its not like anything solid is coming up (sorry, kinda gross). I never got sissors in case that happened, i am definitly asking my doctor about that today. Ill try the soda idea. Ive been drinking lots of water so maybe that is why I still feel nauseated. Its always the worst when I try and sleep and in the morning. Hopefully once I start moving around, I'll feel better. Thanks for responding so fast! Hate to be the one to ask.. but is there any chance you could be pregnant? Guest guest
haha- no there is no way i could be pregnant. i never want kids and take VERY many precautions to never become pregnant... i went to the dr and he told me the Lortab causes nausea if taken on an epty stomach, whioch is what i tend to do at night cause i am trying to sleep, not eat. so i jut have to make sure im eating more, but i swear i cant take any more smoothies!! vikki > > Its always the worst when I try and > > sleep and in the morning. > > Hate to be the one to ask.. but is there any chance you could be > pregnant? > > I think if it was a bug of some sort, you'd know it (fever, chills, > etc)
Guest guest
Vikki--Hi it's Helen. I had my surgery of 7/15 and I started to feel REALLY nauseous about 4 days later and now it's 9 days post op and I'm still feeling nauseous. I had my lower jaw set back and my jaws are wired shut until Thursday and then I get banded, though I doubt I'll be able to open my mouth. My OS is pretty conservative. He believes in absolute immobility for 6 weeks! Believe me, I'm counting down the days. As for the nausea, I'm just like you I feel worst with it overnight and then in the morning. I'm managing to eat between 1500 and 2000 calories a day so I don't think it's the food, maybe it's the diet though. I can manage to eat my 11 month old's baby oatmeal, suck down some yogurt between my teeth and I conquered mashed potatoes yesterday. My OS says that the bands may be tighter than the wires and I will BEG and PLEAD with him not to make them tighter because I don't know if I can survive only on liquids for 5 more weeks! My OS also prescribed me tebamide suppositories but they don't work. Well, they do work as long as I can keep them up (about 15 min. to 1/2 an hour before I get a horrible case of diahrrea sp?). NOt a good choice. Someone else told me about ondansetron (the generic drug name) that you can take orally. I am going to see if my o/s can prescribe something. Also, I found flat ginger ale worked better than water for me. I finished taking my tylenol w/codeine and the antibiotic so I know it's not the meds making me nauseous. UGH!!! It was just comforting to hear someone else suffering with what I am suffering with. Good luck and I hope you feel better. P.S. If you find something that helps, please let me know. Oh, I also am using Soy Milk and Tofu to add protein because at first I thought it was too much dairy in my diet. I am also wondering if it just takes time (and if so, how much) to get used to a liquid diet. Let me know how it goes.
