Guest guest Posted April 9, 2007 Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 Hello Everyone, Here is a job posting I was sent. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ---------------------------------------------------------- March 7, 2007 RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT JOB TITLE: MIGRANT EDUCATION RECRUITER WORK ASSIGNMENT: SOLANO COUNTY AREA II WORK YEAR: March-October, 8 months - Part Time START DATE: Start as soon as possible after interviews DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Regional Office, the Migrant Education Recruiter is responsible for identifying and recruiting eligible migrant children for the Migrant Education Program. The work is performed throughout the region as assigned by the Area Office, and includes accurately documenting the facts of eligibility. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES [may include, but is not limited, to the following]: 1. Understand all federal and state regulations pertaining to the identification and recruitment of migrant children. 2. Attend all recruiter meetings and other training sessions sponsored by the Area/Regional office. 3. Follow all procedures and practices contained in the California Plan for Identification and Recruitment and in any other directives issued by the Region and/or State Migrant Education Office. 4. Establish contracts and regular visits with agencies, businesses and sites that serve migrant families for the purpose of having them help by referring potential eligible families. Among the agencies are health clinics, day care centers, adult education, ESL or amnesty classes, governmental agencies, farm worker unions, legal aid agencies, and churches. Among the businesses are laundromats, stores, movie theaters, restaurants, and shopping malls. 5. Visit homes, work sites or other locations to interview parents or guardians to determine child eligibility for the Migrant Education Program. 6. Record eligibility information for each eligible child on a Certificate of Eligibility. 7. Serve as liaison among home, school, community and the Area/Regional office. 8. Assist parents by providing information on supplementary programs provided by the school district and by the Migrant Education Program. 9. Assist with the recruitment of parents for membership in the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and for involvement in PAC activities. 10. Travel throughout the assigned area in order to fulfill job duties. 11. Maintain records as required. 12. Complete all work accurately and promptly. 13. ate with others. 14. Perform other recruitment duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE OF: 1. Correct oral language usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation in English and the specified second language of the children/families being served. 2. Thorough knowledge of the geographic area. ABILITY TO: 1. Communicate clearly in English and the specified second language of the children/families being served. 2. Communicate to a cross-section of people on a professional and personal basis. 3. Conduct interviews accurately and skillfully in order to determine eligibility for the program. 4. Take direction. 5. Travel throughout the assigned area. 6. Work flexible schedule, including evenings, and weekends, and to be flexible in work assignments. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma and any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be formal or informal education or training, which ensures the ability to read and write English and the appropriate language of those being served at a level necessary for successful job performance. OTHER: 1. Possession of a valid California Driver license and verification of current auto insurance with minimum liability coverage. 2. To comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, all new employees must provide proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. 3.
