Guest guest
But Pam, the scientists say that the embryonic stem cells are the more successful. Merriam - Websterdefines embryo as " a living being in its earliest stage of development " ....in this case a human being. The " slippery slope " ? I don't get on here very often but I want to thank you all for your MSA-SDS info! Bob Hanrahan
Guest guest
I know and I support that as well. Is that any reason not to also support SCNT? Guest guest
Greetings Bob, Please remember three key points about this topic: First, some embryonic stem cell research is used from blastocysts UNUSED and DESTINED FOR DISTRUCTION. These are generated during fertility clinics, where the eggs and sperm of two partners are combined to help them conceive. Many more fertilized eggs are created than are implanted. If they are unused, and consent is granted, the fertilized eggs are donated to science. Helping save lives makes more sense than merely flushing the blastocysts down the drain. And note that distinction. The fertilized eggs are kept at the blastocyst stage. This is well below the level of embryo. A fine, but definite distinction. Second, some of the research (such as outlined in one the proposed bills in the Senate) uses the nucleus of the patient, combined with the egg of a donor (minus the nucleus). This combination creates a blastocyst, from which stem cells are used to create replacement tissue. Third, would you deny me (or any loved one) a possible cure using either of those techniques? In the first case, we already throw the fertilized eggs away. Why do that, when it might be used to help? In the second case, why should I be excluded from using my own tissue to help heal myself? Will we now deny skin grafts grown in solution? Will we deny use of muscle from other parts of the body to help damaged areas? Where do we draw the line? Just a few thoughts. Regards, =jbf= B. Guest guest
i'm not sure exactly eggs don't work well for me. I get full with them real fast, and they feel like a brick in my pouch. I still consider myself fortunate. I can eat everything else i'VE tried~ Laurie __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I can't do eggs at all. I'm 3 months out. Dr. Baggs said it that lots of people don't tolerate eggs. Guest guest
Thanks Tina, it's nice to know I'm not alone. I don't know how many posts I've read over the ages of people who said that egg was the first stage three thing they ate, and that it was heaven. LOL I'll try them again sometime, but i'm not expecting heaven! But...my BMI has dropped more than ten points since Jan...now that is heavenly! \Laurie ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
