I heartily recommend the link in the Dr. Lieberman's answer in the email

below ******* to a question on his Ask The Doctor list.

The article is largely in lay language and is a very good survey of the

subject including the recent introduction of PET and SPECT scans into the

diagnostic process. Dr. L does a nice job of differentiating between the

causes and effects in the various disorders.

question

Dear Dr. Leiberman,

My husband, Merwin, was diagnosed with PD about 3 years ago. He has

orthostatic hypotension and there has been much discussion regarding

Shy-Drager's. Is there a conclusive way to diagnose Shy-drager's vs PD?

Thank you,

Stella Ellis

,

That is a great site ( http://www.parkinson.org/pdquestions.htm ). The

article is still a bit technical, but if anyone has problems understand

any parts - ask us and several of us can explain it in less intimidating

words :o) It is NOT dumb to ask questions! The most intelligent people

I know, ALWAYS ask WHY? Doctors DO use a different language at times

:o) If you can not get the article write me and I will send you the

text off list.

Take care, Bill Werre
