Well I would like to say " Herzlich Willkommen " to the best support group there is . My Name is Heidi also known as Mrs. Nosey. LOL It is my Husband that has RP. Yes I will give my 2 cents about all medicine. Of Course I only will say what Don and I learnt from the Mayo Clinic and all his Drs. First the Prednison. Yup, that is one that Don hates the most. But he also knows he will be on it the rest of his life. He now is down to 3 mg. a day. When he was on a high dose the mayo Clinic told him to cut ONLY 1mg down each month. Because that is how long it takes your body to adjust to the lower does. Now to the stomach. You need to protect your stomach by all means. You have to take this medicine even thru you may not have a problem now, Why wait till you are in trouble ???? Don takes 2 PRILOSEC a day and 4 = 100 mg. CYTOTEC a day. Both of does is to protect his stomach. His Rheumy gives this to all his Patient so that the will not have a stomach problem. Don also takes 800 mg of IBUPROFEN 3 X a day. Now the Cytotec does not cost as much as the Prilosec. But it is a very good stomach protector. So please everyone ask your DRS to help prevent you from having stomach problems. Don also takes Vitamins everyday. That order came from the Mayo Clinic also. The said it was very important for him to take does. He takes 1000mg Vit, E + a Multy Vit. each morning. In the evening he takes 400mg vit. E and a B 12 Vit. He also takes 2 Tums 3 X a day for the calcium. Plus this is also good for the stomach. He also takes 80mg Zorco for his cholesterol. So Please remember it is VERY IMPORTEN THAT YOU TAKE ALL YOUR MEDICIN ON TIME EVERYDAY !!!!!! AND DONT EVER SKIP. Well I hope this helps you all to understand why I make sure that Don does take his med. on time. He has had no Flare in a very long time now. Even true he has been under a lot of stress lately.
