Does anyone have or know about fixed (permanent) retainers?

Can anyone point me to wear I can read about fixed retainers and the

advantages of having these rather than Hawley retainers?

I should be getting my braces off at the end of August and I was told

I would have fixed retainers on both upper & lower.

Does anyone else have these? If so why did you get them rather than

Hawley retainers?

when i had braces the first time, they put a fixed retainer on my

lower teeth. fixed retainers go on the inside of your teeth, which

was actually better i thought. yes...you can't take them out...but

you also can't see them. and you can't lose them!!! haha. you have

to get used to them at first...having a wire behind your teeth kinda

impairs your speech, but after a few days...you hardly notice it.
