bedtime neck pain leading to arm paralysis?

Anybody ever had this experience?.....At night my sister, Celeste,

does not want to go to bed. Whenever she lays her head on a pillow

her neck starts hurting very badly....from what I have read here this

is not unusual. What is unusual is that then she starts feeling what

she describes as electrocution through her arms and legs and then her

arms quick working. The pain is very severe. It doesn't seem to be

the movement disorder because before she gets in bed her arms work

fine and then after she lays her head on the pillow they quick

working. Has anybody ever had this experience? I am wondering if

Celeste has something going on besides the MSA like maybe a herniated

cervical disc from one of her falls or something like that. If you

had a movement disorder could you move while standing or sitting but

be paralyzed when you lay down?

Thanks, Dawn Morley

Hi Dawn,

I am sorry to hear of Celeste's latest problem. I am certainly not an expert,

but it sure sounds to me like back/disc problems. Sounds as though something

is getting compressed. I haven't heard that mentioned as a typical MSA

symptom. Usually the neck pain in MSA is while sitting. Let us know what you

find out.

Love and hugs,

Jean & Chrissie

Dawn, i am certainly not an expert on this disease or any other, but that

really doesnt sound (to me) like a usual symptom. I would try to get

further tests like full body and brain scan and talk to her doctor.
