Guest guest
, You are so right.....sex can and does cause URIs.....I have gotten several severe bladder infections and my doctor says it was probably from the sex. He said think about it... your bladder is only about ________________ this far from the outside world. Bacteria has a very short route to travel to get to your bladder and start growing. I even got a bladder infection from moving my bedroom furniture once when Randy was out of town. I had my bladder tacked up when I had my hysterectomy and I guess I must have pulled and strained it from tugging on the heavy furniture. That was my worst infection ever. Be very careful with the cranberry juice, it's very acidic on the new tummy....push the water or dilute the cranberry juice. As far as I'm concerned if I have to choose between a healthy active libido or avoiding URIs..........I say bring on the URIs.......hee....hee... Guest guest
As a male, I too was kind of obsessing about being catheterized. I mentioned this to my surgeon. My surgery lasted 3.5 hours. The catheter was put in and taken out while I was under sedation. Your son may want to mention his concern to his surgeon. Guest guest
Are you sure he will have one? I was also worried sick about this but at Kaiser they did not use one. If he does have to have them I have heard that they go in and come out all while you are still under. > My son is having his surgery on Aug. 3rd and is freaking out about > having a catheter. Guest guest
The catheter should not be a problem. They are usually put in while you are under and taken out while you are under. I had mine in for 24 hours but you are on painkillers and are pretty much " doped up " that you won't even notice when they pull it out. > My son is having his surgery on Aug. 3rd and is freaking out about > having a catheter. Guest guest
I'm not a guy so I'm sure it's different, but for me they put it in while I was asleep, and taking it out was no big deal at all. > My son is having his surgery on Aug. 3rd and is freaking out about > having a catheter. It went in while I was asleep, and it came out while I was fully awake. You don't actually feel it while it's in, unless you step up and walk around the room... which I didn't try. When it got removed, I felt a little discomfort. Not enough to call it a pain. Ray
Guest guest
Please tell your son, he's 100% normal to be dwelling on this, but not to be worried...this is a standard part of many of our procedures...I will have one too so they tell me, and honestly-yup, one of the things I am like -argh! about, but really, I had one once before and it's like they say, uncomfortable when they take it out, but it's super-quick and remind him...if he can go through BRACES, and JAW SURGERY! heck, this is definetly nothing to fear. *one thing to remember, keep drinking or taking in whatever fluids you can bec it will be critical that you " pee " after it's removed...or they won't let you go home...I mean eventually sure, but ONLY AFTER YOU PEE. Guest guest
Maybe he won't be getting one? I had upper & genio, surgery lasted about 3 hours and I did NOT have a cath. Even if he does have one, it may be removed before he wakes up from the surgery. > My son is having his surgery on Aug. 3rd and is freaking out about > having a catheter.
