jo...dunno which tom you were referring to...haha. but nonetheless,

yeah...i feel ya...believe me! i got an urgent call from my ortho

monday saying that they had to do some " tweaking " before i could have

my surgery. so i had to go in tuesday...i have to go in today...and

i have to go in early next week again! then i have my pre-op appt.

with my oral surgeon sometime either late next week or early the next

week. this is killing my hours this week. since i get paid per how

many hours i spend working on a project(work for an architecture

firm)...it's eatin up my time pretty bad! because i work in downtown

indianapolis...and both my ortho and my OS are down on the far

southside...so i have to allow 45 minutes to drive down...then 45 to

drive back up. i already can't afford the 2 weeks off that i'm

taking...but what can ya do! and since everyone was on the topic of

catheters earlier...i was freaked out at first...but then i figured

that should be the least of my concerns. i'm still kinda dreading

it...but it's not on my mind all the time like it was before. i just

hope the bag, or whatever your pee goes into, isn't like in plain

sight of everyone that comes into my room(like my family and friends)

haha!

I'm hanging in there! Just making sure I have everything that

people on these groups have said to use. And when I go to my

pre-op appt. I will ask what things I will need.

Somebody asked me how many days I had and we counted: 18

as of today! I can't believe it! In the teens!!!

But I think I am doing OK! But I just wanted to get this over with

and see the end result! I know it will be a hard recovery!

Tom, that (the catheter bag) is truly the least of your worries post-

op. I don't mean to be scary, but you'll have much more

interesting " attractions " to show your friends and family, I'll bet --

bruises, swelling, an ice pack, etc., etc.

All of them I have ever seen (which is too many) have been down near

the foot of the bed, where they can be covered pretty easily with the

bed linens, if that's really a problem for you.

Hay Tom...what's your date again?

And yup-you're right with me...taking 2 wks that are my vaca and

hoping it's enough...I'm a recruiter and if I'm not talking, the

register isn't ringing --so to speak...so I totally hear that too.

(and fyi, the " p-bag " hangs on the lower portion of your bed...if

you're consciences, just ask the rn to put it on the " other " side of

the door...and remember, you're human like everyone else-no

biggie...and DRINK DRINK DRINK so that you can get out of tehre once

it's out.)

Keep on writing...and try not to forget your head-today I am at an

all time forgetfulness-forgot my xray @home, then my office front

door keys in the ladies rm-someone I didn't know came in to ask if it

was ours...great-and then on my way to a client visit...missed 2

exits and took the senic route...unreal! JO :-P

Hi Jo!

I start all my pre-op next week. I'm so ready to have this surgery

behind me. I've tried not thinking too much about it, but now it's

too close not to think about it. I'm anxious and excited, but

mostly just want to be on the other side. The timing couldn't be

worse though. My kids start back to school in 3 weeks and I start

back (teaching pre-school) in 5 weeks. I'm really hoping I'll be

back on my feet in about 2 weeks. Seems like people are going back

to work at about 2 weeks. I'll just keep my fingers crossed! We'll

all have to keep in touch after surgery!

Heya!

I'm just getting impatient here really. I think I'm the last one to

go in August, my surgery is scheduled for the 24th. I don't have my

last Ortho visit until the 11th, so I'm just waiting for now. I'm

getting jealous of all you guys that get to have yours done sooner! :)

Good luck to you all!!

Hey Jo and surgery buddies! Am I the you were referring too?

My surgery is on Tuesday -4 days away- and I'm starting to feel

pretty anxious, but kind of excited. I think I'm all ready. I have

my zip-n-squeeze bags (2 hospital packs that cost me an outrageous

$95 with shipping to canada!!)and all my other various " supplies " . I

got a fancy blender and spent wednesday blending and freezing some

of next weeks meals (vichysoisse and spaghetti). My surgeon told me

originally that I was having a double jaw surgery (Leforte maxillary

advancement and mandibular setback) but know he says he may do just

upper. I guess I'll find out when I wake up. He's also pulling out

my wisdom teeth on the left side (which is all I have anyway). Are

you guys all nervous? I don't think it's really hit me yet... It's

just hard for me to accept that the " disfigurement " I've been living

with my entire life will soon be only a haunting memory... I can't

wait for my new face!!!

Good luck to you all!!!

YES It's you!

I can't believe it...we're alike on this...they are talking about not

doing my lower now too...I'm 8/9, and still not sure.

F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G!

I mean excited sure, but hellllllo? oh my god.

Sorry to hear the zips were so pricey--I was just going to orfer

andnow I'm like whhhhhhhhhhat?!

but the price to pay...heck it's cheaper than genio! ;)

did you freeze as cubes or just full ocntainers? Someone noted using

ice cube trays for soup so you can take a few, pop them into the

micro and you have a lot or a little ready to go! Good idea, but I

didn't start taht yet...

are you genio too?
