Guest guest
Hi it's Helen again. I saw my OS today (2 week post-op appointment after lower jaw set back 5 mm on July 15th) and it was depressing. He took off the wires and now I have about 15 or so rubber bands holding my jaw together and I now can't eat anything again. This morning I was able to slurp down a yogurt and some cream of wheat and now (2 hours later) I can't eat anything anymore! Ugh....I guess I have to go back to straight liquids. I am so sad it almost makes me cry. I felt so awful when I was on straight liquids and super pureed stuff. I was never able to get enough nutrition so I was always nauseous and sick. And to boot I now look worse! I have these rubber bands all across my face (I do look like Hannibal Lechter) and my speech is MUCH WORSE with all these rubber bands than just with the wires. UGH! I'm at work and have to go to a meeting @ 2:00 but all I want to do is go home and cry!!!! I don't know if I can do 4 more weeks on just liquids and purees....my sanity were my mashed potatoes, cream of wheat and yogurt! Guest guest
Oh Helen!!! Hang in there woman! You can make it. I bet those bands are no more shocking to a stranger than a wire and heck SO WHAT IF IT IS! You are doing something so terrific for yourself, who cares what it looks like today...so there world! As to the liquids...try and not go so heavy on milky items, that can stir up the belly sometimes and just think BLENDER...have that mashed potato-add a little chic broth and BLEND! yummy. And remember too, it's totally ok to cry-heck I think I will be a bag o'tears some days...just being 10days pre-op and missing an impt part of my plan has made me just bust out once or twice in a quiet private moment...and I am not upset with me for it...better it come out-no one needs an ulcer. Keep on writing and remember this is ONLY temporary. HUGS...jo > Hi it's Helen again. Guest guest
I also discovered yesterday that V8 now makes some smoothies. The one I got was banana-strawberry (my husband is a smoothie freak) and there was at least one other fruit-flavored combo. I don't know yet how they taste, and I didn't look at the nutrition panel, but it sure sounds easy, just to pour from a jar. Cammie > > Hi it's Helen again.
