Guest guest
Hi All, I just got back from my ENT and told him about my Dad and what I had been reading about RP. He says I may very well have it and will just have to wait for some other marker to show up or not. He did give me names of two specialists in town that reconstruct airways. When I talked to Dad's doc today he still had no idea what we should do but keep Dad on 20mg of prednisone at this time. Do most of you take a maintanence dose? Your trip sounds wonderful. Guest guest
Glad you liked them. I got Giggles (my Pembroke Welsh Corgi) when Dad and I were deciding to bring Mom home from the nursing home after her stroke. I told my husband that it was a puppy or prozac. I named her before I ever got her and she has pretty much lived up to her name. And I wanted to learn how to do a website and you have to do them about something...so there you have it. Guest guest
Sandy, My symptom happened about 2 years ago. I had sudden complete loss of hearing on one side. The literature I have been reading says that hearing loss can be RP without the inflamation of the cartilege of the ear. I was treated with a long course of Prednisone and regained some hearing. I really like my specialist and already had a check up appointment scheduled and decided to ask about Dad. The doc said I would have to wait to see if I had an episode of something else which makes sense. I am just being a hypochondriac but I have had a pretty active medical history. I just don't want to miss something sense in hindsight it is easy to say that this had been going on with my Dad for quite some time. Cathy Re: PR Cathy, What symptoms are you having? Cathy >> Cathy you are wise to keep a check on it.... Catch it before it gets worse... You aren't being a hypochondriact... You are just being aware of your body.... Keep up the good work... with RP there are so many different things that can be part of it... I'm glad you have a good dr and you are aware of RP now.... You will learn so much here... just keep asking questions.
Guest guest
Cathy, Ilove your stationery!!!! Sent it to my sister who has a pet sitting company. As for the doc, most PCP's are not skilled in RP. Mine did not even know what it was. He does now though. Your father needs to see a rhuematologist and one that has a connective tissue specialty is even better, but definately a rhuematologist. Have you been to the RP website there is some good info on RP there. The address is http://rpolychondritis.tripod.com/index.html Wishing you the best, take care, Elaine From: Cathy Donohoue To: Rpolychondritis Sent: Friday, August 24, 2001 1:25 PM Subject: PR Hi All, I just got back from my ENT and told him about my Dad and what I had been reading about RP. Guest guest
Elaine, You can tell we are a little dog crazy at my house. Not everyone has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Giggles. The website is great and how I found this group. I have a lot to learn and I think I have found the place to do it. I've been doing a lot of reading and need to sort things out. And a good doc should help us do that. Cathy PR Hi All, I just got back from my ENT and told him about my Dad and what I had been reading about RP.
