Guest guest
Hi all: Wanted to let you know Pete's right eye(that he had cataract surgery) on is doing well...he is starting to have crystal clear vision for longer and longer periods of time. He will stay on the antibiotic drops for 2 1/2 more weeks and then he goes back to determine if he is ready for the left eye to be done. He is so pleased...I would imagine after thinking he was going blind to see clearly is exhilerating!!!!!!! Now we are working on getting his blood sugar down. He is taking Starlix which you take immediately before eating(even a snack) and he just started a few days ago on glucophage XR...his blood sugar has been in the low 200s the last couple of days and it was in the high 200s and low 300s so hopefully it is working. The doc is hoping to avoid insulin at this point. BTW Pete has been going to the VA to get help with his meds. Went to a Rheumatologist Wednesday to get approval for the cyclosporin, imuran and prednisone. The doc admitted to not knowing much at all about RP and asked me if I could get documentation from Dr. Buckner that those meds were appropriate for RP. He would not accept the documentation from Pete's Internist. Actually, he was being overly cautious but I would rather have that than someone who really doesn't care. Well to make a long story even longer (LOL) I emailed Dr. Buckner this AM and had a response by this afternoon!!!!! She is such a sweetheart..not only is she smart but she's nice too. I amsorry I havn't been posting too much but have been very busy with Pete's appointments and trying to help my sister out too. I do want you all to know that I read every post and you are all in my prayers and I thank God for this group. Love and Hugs Janet

Guest guest
Janet, Thanks for the update on Pete! Sound just wonderful! Hope he is able to get the other eye done soon. Of course he doesn't need to be able to see to know that his wife is beautiful. He is so lucky to have you in his corner. So good to hear that his blood sugar is doing better too! Great news all around.
