Guest guest
Awww... You don't like Carly? I thought she was like Sara Lee -- Nobody doesn't like Car-rr-lee! And you don't like Steely Dan, either? Sigh. Guess I'll just have to bring my earphones. You should sit next to my podmate at work. We don't have muzak, thank Heavens, but she sings, all day long. Often in the harmonic part for her church choir. (You haven't lived until you've heard Christmas carols done in one harmonic part!) And when she's not singing, she reads aloud to herself every headline she writes.... Yep. I brought my earphones. Guest guest
Headlines huh? Journalist? I'm in the niche, but makes me wonder, do you work for a religious org, bec singing " inspirational " music at the desk can be considered infringement on personal religious rights...JO And mind you, I LOVE music--99% of all, less hard core country, rap and deathmetal...but once you beat something to death, it's time to flip the tape, smash the cd and melt the LP > Awww... Guest guest
Nope. I work for a plain old daily newspaper, circ. about 100,000. I've never made a stink about it, although I did ask for some relief from it once. I didn't get it. Oh well. I remember a feller who worked for one of those big city papers -- I'm thinking it was the NYTimes, coming to our newsroom to do some research on something or other. We installed him in a little cubicle, in which some folks were assigned to watch the local TV news. The watchers apologized profusely, but the guy was unflappable, and answered, " If I can't work with a little noise nearby, I'm not much of a journalist. " So, following his lead (no, he was not Jayson Blair) I have subsided, and try to concentrate more on keeping my own nose clean... C, > > Awww... You don't like Carly? Guest guest
Hey Cammie, I work for a daily newspaper also, but I work on the other side of the paper -where I am at right now- prepress! Guest guest
Ah -- so YOU'RE one of those folks who loses my pictures, or files them under another name! Just kidding. Those folks can really bail us out when we need them. (I'm old fashioned enough that I still refer to them as the Engraving Department. I reckon that dates me...)
