I didn't, but I talked with a young woman who had her surgery done by

the Navy docs, I believe. She was in the Coast Guard... And several

folks who hung out on other sites have had military surgeons. I can't

think of a one who had any problems.

I'm just worried because I'm not sure if this is really under our

military medical coverage. I was seeing an OS and he agreed that he

will do my surgery but he transfered to a different duty station

right before my ortho said that my teeth are ready for the surgery.

I'll be meeting the new OS tomorrow, hopefully he agrees to do it and

not just think that it's cosmetic.

Can you please try to get some info from your friend. Thanks.

I hope he agreed for you, and would suspect that he did. It's not

usually they oral surgeons who are the sticking point. They KNOW what

a difference the surgery can make, and why it's important in

retaining the orthodontic work. It's the other folks who work setting

policy who, like the general public, get confused about

the " cosmetic " thing. Which is really, really odd -- because I would

just wager that they'd never declined surgery to repair a defective

foot, or hand, that was too short or too long to be functional.
