Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm now six days post-op from upper jaw surgery. My surgeon moved my upper jaw up 3 mm to fix an open bite, with my lower jaw rotating into place. I know this is silly to think about right now, but when I look in the mirror it doesn't look to me as if my lower jaw has really moved forward at all. My profile still looks a little recessed. I'm still quite swollen though. Did anyone else in a similar situation have to wait a while to notice differences in their appearances? Thanks, Meaghan
Guest guest
Hi Meaghan, I also had upper surgery (this past October) to fix an open bite. I was given the choice to have genioplasty with it, to improve my profile. Initially I decided against it. I wanted as little surgery as possible. But after much consideration, I decided to go for the genio. I am sure if your surgeon felt that you needed genio, he or she would have suggested it. So at this point I would say you likely have a lot of swelling and perhaps your new profile will be more obvious in a few weeks. When you are all healed from the upper jaw surgery and if you still are not happy with your profile I am sure you can always go back for genio sometime in the future.
