Okay...I'm trying to find like a documentery jaw surgery video. I

remember when the Discovery Channel used to have a surgery series

where they showed a different surgery every episode...and one was jaw

surgery. It was quite a few years ago and I didn't watch much of

it...but I remember watching part of it and being like...wow! I

think it would be cool to have so I could show my friends/family what

exactly it was I had done. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Tom

Look in the links, here and on OSS 2. It's posted. If you don't

specify that it's for personal use, they'll want $175 for it. If you

do tell them that, it's $40. And it's not for showing over appetizers.

They're working on a young woman about, maybe 16, with a large

underbite. She's done braces forever and nothing has really helped. I

do think the surgery was life-changing for her and her family.

You see the surgery (including wizzie removal) in some detail, some

bloody detail, I might add, with saws, hammers and chisels, but not

much if any of the recovery. I have no clue, still, whether she was

wired, banded or neither of the above. She's in the O.R., and in the

next shots she's off to college (presumably UNC at Chapel Hill) to

visit her sister in the dorm -- all healed and bouncy, with a much

simpler profile.

There may be subsequent better ones -- this one is old, now. (It was,

indeed, on the Discovery Channel, which also showed the repair of a

cleft palate on a baby a day or two later, in the same series.

Fascinating.) I watched it when I was awaiting lower advancement,

back in 2001-2002, and I think it was probably old then.

Best,

Cammie

tom, sorry for replying so late. i am going back, way back, in the

posts as i am behind. i was at my OS last friday 6 weeks post, and

asked the same thing! i really didn't get a good answer, but he did

tell me to look at the " History Channel " or something like that.

Perhaps what cammie said is what we may be able to get. did you find

anything else? i had upper, lower and genio. i too am interested in

a video.

You can find this in the links on site 2, or on the geocities site at

http://www.geocities.com/orthognathicinfo (click on OTHER LINKS,

ORTHOGNATHIC LINKS).

I never watched, never will. I often faint at the sight or mention of

a needle. Don't like the sight of blood or gore. Personally, I

wouldn't show this video to anyone, not even someone I didn't like!
