Guest guest
Good ideas, saima23! You sound as though you're taking the opportunity to do some experimenting. Good for you! And for sharing, too... Never heard of a scandishake, but may check it out, for other reasons than jaw surgery. Thank you. What if you have to take pills? Ask your surgeon, and ask your pharmacist. Some things may be crushed and dissolved. Some may not. Other things may be available in liquids. But ask your docs -- they know lots more than we do! Guest guest
Hi, ! I am on 50 mg of Zoloft right now, so I actually had to take that pill in the hospital before I left. At first I thought, " What? They're not going to give it to me in liquid form? " But then the nurse told me that most people do fine if they put it on the front of their tongue and then drink their water. I figured I'd give it a try. I had the Zip-N-Squeeze bag (which I HIGHLY recommend), so I snuck the pill between my teeth (I am banded shut) and stuck the ZNS straw through an opening on the side and squeezed some water in. I was able to swallow the pill very successfully, and I was very happy. I didn't think I could do it, but I did. That gave me the confidence to handle the antibiotic, Advil, and an occasional Vicodin. No sweat. The nurse said you can also grind up certain pills and put it in things, but I think if you can manage to swallow them, it's better, because then you're assured to get your full dosage. I'd also suggest looking in a mirror so you can see where you're putting the pill. Hope this helps! Carleen

Guest guest
Hi Carleen, Those are all great ideas. If you like corned beef, you can also blend up a corned beef brisket (you'll need broth of some kind, and a bit of butter, or it gets pretty dry). It looks like cat food, but has the most awesome taste! I put mustard on it, and all I was missing was rye bread for the perfect sandwich. I also loved pureed turnip (rutabaga) - it's my favourite vegetable. > Hello, everyone! > > I am eleven days post-op from a lower jaw advancement.
