this afternoon 345 is my 2 week check up- i cant believe its been 2

weeks since

surgery!!!

anyway-

when i drive, im still uncomfortable (not to drive) but the

sensativity in my belly, the seatbelt pushes even in driving 15 miles,

i switched positions so many times, like every 5 min adjusting the

seat, or leaing forward like a grandma driver, or putting my chair all

the way upright...

im thinking of a pillow, and wearing a tight shirt to hold my belly

area...but i have to drive 100 miles to fremont, and back -

im not wimpy, but it just feels funny, and to sit in that position for

100 miles im worried---

can anyone relate to this feeling im having--

I was told not to drive for 6 weeks! So, I suspect you would be uncomfortable.

I did have an open RNY, and I do have a shift transmission in my car, but even

so, I think 2 weeks is too soon!

Just sharing my experience.

I drove at 1 week post-op and I remember being a little

uncomfortable because everything pushed on the incisions. I recall

unzipping my pants while I drove and putting my seatbelt really low.

Dr. Baggs said you can resume driving when you are no longer taking

narcotic pain meds and I only took those for 3-4 days. That's the

only reason they don't want you driving.

,

I had some weird feelings too when in the car at two weeks.

Is there someone that can drive you so you can recline your seat and

relax?

I was driving myself around by 2 1/2 weeks. It is amazing what a few

more days will do for you.

You had lap done right?

It might feel weird, but you will be okay. I think if you sit on a

pillow that might help in the shock absorbtion from the road as well?

Good luck!

At least you are going to a fun appt! 2 week post op! Way to go!

HI

there is a clip that you can get at Kragen's or any of the auto parts stores to adjust your seat belt away from your sensitive area. I still have a problem with the seatbelts and use it. I also have a small pillow that is use to keep the seat belt in check.

I had LAP, and I drove less than a week after the surgery without problem. (However, I borrowed my ex-husband's automatic car, and gave him my stickshift...figured the clutch might get a little fatiguing.)

Sorry , I spoke too soon. I hadn't seen your post, and I thought you were just asking if it's ok to drive. Didn't mean to be insensitive to the fact that you were physically uncomfortable.

I went on a trip to Central Coast California when I was two weeks out. I didn't drive, but was very uncomfortable in the car that long. (6 hours due to traffic). I brought my teddy bear, and that helped...and we got out and stretched a number of times. But I was beat and exhausted and sore afterwards.

Take it easy on yourself!
