Guest guest
Had my check-in appointment at Richmond yesterday and I am at my goal weight plus 3pds uder. So now I have an appoint on Sept 9th(it is not with my surgeron). I do have to have a EKG and tested for drugs.....Nicotine....I smoke but in the process of quiting, taking oral medication and slowly changing my smoking habit, after two weeks of this medicine than I am off cig. for good. ( I hope). I was told that if the test does not come out DRUG FREE then they will not schdule a surgery date. So any smokers out there - try to change your habit and start thinking of ways to quit...Richmond is very adamant about this. On to other subject. I did ask about this check-in weight every month thing and was told that it is not mandatory it is only strongly suggested, that pre-post (waiting to lose that 10%)should check-in and show some initiative that you are still active and still interested in having the surgery. If they do not hear from you in a long period of time it is assumed you are no longer interested and you can be drop from the program....It was 5 months since my last class with Kaiser and they said that was OK, so what consitutes a long time?? I do not know, but for those that have not been in touch with your baractic staff, maybe it would be a good idea to call. To Francisco: Some times it is very hard to remember what it was like to be the fat person...my daughter , is going thru this, she has lost 240lbs after her surgery, and is now one of the thin normal people. She has a friend who is very overweight and has the some attitude and negative outlook at life that she once had. There are times it is very difficult hanging out with her as she is a mirror and a reminder of who she was. No you are not someones food keeper or coach but go back into time, what did you want and need back then???Maybe your fat friends need the same. For me it would be unconditional love, encouragement and a listening hear - that spells out SUPPORT. Good luck to all Luci
