I am also having the surgery at Richmond. It has been a slow process for me, and sometimes I have a senior moment but for me my first appointment at Richmond was a introduction class> They talked about the program, the surgery the good things the not so good things - and I beleive we had a weight in at that time. > Yes you may have been accepted into the program but only the surgeon, after he see you, makes the final decision. My appointment with the surgeon was after I went to all the classes. When I finally saw the sugeron he told me I had to loss and X amount of weight and stop smoking before he would schedule a actually date. So to-date I have lost the %10 required and in the process of quiting smoking. Wedesday I had my weight in appointment and was given the pat of the back and a slip to have my EKG done and also Tested for Drugs - tobacco kind ----. They gave me a appointment in Sept 9th and was told that if my drug test comes out clean they would then give me a date for the surgery. Yes and Yes and Yes some more >>>>>>I am also scared and on an emotional roller coster!!! Some days I am looking forwarded to having this surgery expectionally after reading this site and how successful other people have been...and then I have days when I have my doubts and concerns. Where do you live??? I live in American Canyon, that is between Vallejo and Napa. Hope this has helped, hang in there and keep posting. Guest guest
Hi, - Nice to " meet " you. I'm 49, diabetic, have sleep apnea, high BP, and arthritis - so I understand what you mean about the health issues. I know 49 isn't the same as 57, but I suspect your motives are still the same as all of ours. We're all trying to make the rest of our lives as healthy as possible. I'm not sure if I'm at the same point in the process as you or not. I have an appt. set for Sept. 12 in Santa Clara, my PCP sent in a request and they called to set it up with me. Anyone know if that means I'm " in " or if that's likely to be an orientation and I still need to do more to be accepted after that? I'll know more after the 12th but I'm kind of curious.
