Guest guest
Post surgery 4 weeks and have experienced continuing hunger pains. Feel them between meals, but wake up in the middle of the night with what can only be severe hunger pain - discomfort. If I eat a little bit, the problem stops. Is this normal for all who have undergone the procedure? Bill
Guest guest
What phase are you in? Are you in Stage III? I think from time to time people get hunger pains...but it's surprising that they are continuing. Are you choosing wisely with the foods you are eating...in other words, getting in protein as your main (possibly only, at this point) fare? Perhaps you are drinking water too soon after you eat, thereby flushing out the food from your system? Are you vomiting up your food? If so, your belly will be empty too soon. I find that I get more hungry around my period. Also, if I overeat, I get hungry if i don't continue to overeat. (and when I say overeat, I mean, if I eat 3 ounces, instead of 2). The good thing is that if you are hyper diligent for a couple of days, and when you get hungry, you eat a sugar free popsicle (only 15 calories, no fat, no sugar, and can also work as liquid)...the hunger starts to subside...and then you go through days when you virtually forget to eat anything. It's weird. Some of it could be "head hunger", but it feels like real hunger. That's because your body can react to your emotional/mental hunger. If you are used to eating a lot, frequently, it's a hard habit to break. I was very worried in about my third week, because I was hungry a lot. But, it was because I wasn't eating my protein. Not enough protein, anyway. I was still eating sugar free pudding, which just didn't cut it from a nutrition perspective. Speaking of nutrients, make sure that you take your suppements. They are critical. And drink your water. All of that will help. Mainly, just hold on..because your body will respond in the way you want it to respond...and it will do so pretty soon. good luck, Robynn kaiser0000_1 wrote: Post surgery 4 weeks and have experienced continuing hunger pains. Guest guest
This happened to me as well. I was hungry from week 2. I also could and do eat more than the 2 oz. I also eat at least 4x a day not 3 as recommended. I spoke with Dr. Park about this and she said as long as I don't go over 4-5 oz. it was o.k. At 6 weeks out I could actually get in a full cup of food but I still limit myself to a half cup. I think so people are just different. Dr. Park said I had " the extreme side of easy " when it came to this surgery which is great but it also seems to mean that I am hungrier and can eat more than a lot of people. While I have experienced cravings or " head hunger " I also experience real hunger and I know there are others out there who do too. I was hoping this surgery would get rid of my hunger for at least a few months but that was not to be the case. Oh well. I think you should speak to your doctor about it and see what he/she says. But I think if you continue to make good food choices and only eat when you really are truly hungry you will be o.k. Good luck. > Post surgery 4 weeks and have experienced continuing hunger pains. > Feel them between meals, but wake up in the middle of the night with > what can only be severe hunger pain - discomfort. Guest guest
Im one of the few that still experienced hunger postop too. Make sure that you are drinking enough, sometimes the hunger is really thirst. Also, make sure you are getting in enough, especially at dinner time. Weigh out the food, dont just use the little cups to measure it out. Weigh out two ounces.
