we just had our house appraised yesterday, we are getting a home equity loan to put in some laminate flooring and tile..............................i did wrestle with not doing this holding off and maybe using it for plastic surgery later on, but i have been complaning about our carpet being a mess for five years now.......................and i really want new floors, the appraiser was at our house for a total of like 15 minutes if that, and i got to thinking, hmmm maybe this is something i could do, i am nosey and love looking at peoples houses...................so thanks for sharing.

That is so funny, Colleen, 'cause I too am nosy...lol

I love to see how people have decorated their homes,

if they're messy, etc.

Also, we paid our one appraiser $375.00 for an

appraisal when we re-financed, and then $450.00 to

another when we pulled out money to put hardwood

floors downstairs. I think that being an appraiser can

be quite lucrative, especially considering that the

appraisers were not at the house more than 20

minutes!! (But remember, the work and time involved in

doing a home appraisal is not just the time spent at

your house. There is much more work that needs to be

done after they have come out to your home.)

anyways you wlll have to let me know how it goes for you if you decide to do it !
