Hi I have recently been diagnosed with crohn's. I am 30 female. Ct showed abcess fistula and stricture. I have surgery scheduled in two weeks. In the meantime I am on flagyl. I am wondering if anyone has advice for pre and post surgery diet to help inflammation. I am wonderig if it is worth doing anything while on antibiotics since they just kill all bacteria good or bad. If anyone has gone through this or similar please contact me. I have never been put On any other meds so advice about this is also welcomeJudithOn Oct 26, 2009, at 12:41 PM, "Wizop Marilyn L. many Thanks. Do you think that

SCD Goats Milk Yogurt is more beneficial than SCD Cows Milk Yogurt? Would

it make sense for everyone to use Goats Milk?

I've used both. I like both.

I think so much depends on individual tolerances that it would be

impossible to make a blanket statement like that, except, possibly, in

the case of ASD kids and/or others with known cow casein

intolerance.

One thing as a consideration is that goat milk is significantly more

expensive than even pastured cow milk. As a consequence, if cost is a

problem, and it is for many people, people might hesitate to try SCD if

you require the goat milk.

I usually use dripped cow milk yogurt for salad dressings, frozen yogurt,

and other things.

Goat milk yogurt I find even more tart than cow milk yogurt, and

considering how tart SCD cow milk yogurt is, that's saying something. But

weirdly, I can consume goat yogurt without any sweeteners. I usually use

goat milk yogurt in lieu of buttermilk. It gives me a different taste.

I had major surgery for uterine cancer in April of 2008. Starting in the

archives in February 2008, look for my posts about the surgery

preparations.

I had surgery a month ago. Pre surgery, I just ate soft foods like yogurt, eggs,

cheesecake, squash pie filling, etc. Post surgery, I'm still eating soft foods

:-). That's mostly just because I'm nervous to try anything else.

If I remember correctly, my first 2 foods after surgery were legal grape jello

and scrambled eggs.

Keep eating your yogurt, even while taking antibiotics (I think they say to do

it 2 hours after you take your antibiotics). Otherwise, you could end up with a

yeast overgrowth.

Good luck!
