Guest guest
Hello, Long time SCDer here (10 years) but not necessarily a very advanced user. I have been converting regular bacon into SCD bacon using the following technique and wanted to get some feedback from some of the power users: + I use the precooked bacon from Costco (Kirkland brand) but presumably almost any brand can be used. + Boil bacon in water for 10 minutes (to remove sulfides, nitrates, sugars, and preservatives.) According to anecdotal evidence I've heard, this removes the majority of the " bad " stuff ... but I think more research should be done to confirm. + Cook bacon in microwave (or in frying pan) until crisp. I put the bacon on a plate between 2 paper towels and microwave it for 2 minutes. Then I use another paper towel to pat dry the excess grease that cooks off, which helps to remove additional fat-soluable " bad " stuff. The result is, quite frankly, some of the best bacon I've had anywhere because it doesn't have that overly salty taste of regular bacon. Any feedback (but not flaming) would be appreciated.
