Barbara, I don't know of anyone on this list who has

gotten pregnant post surgery. However, there is a

list called OSSG pregnant or something like that that

pertains to that very subject. You might want to

check it out.

There is a Yahoo group especially for this topic, called ossg-pregnant.

You can find it's home page at

I do know one gal who was a few years out, and had a baby in February of

this year. Both she and baby are just fine, but she was ABSOLUTELY

SCRUPULOUS about her supplementation, including both vitamins and

protein drinks.

I believe it is usually recommended that you wait until at least a

couple of years post-op.

Barbara,

I will not be having any other children but a friend of mine specifically had

this surgery to help her with ovulating and what not after the weight came off.

She has a beautiful baby girl and did just fine. I think her recommended time

was after surgery 2 years. Her daughter weighed 8 lbs. She is look great by the

way.

Thanks for the info. From what I have heard, it is recommended that you wait 18-24 months. I was just curious if anyone had done it and their experience. I did join the board that someone suggested just to get information (I am so sorry that I forgot who that was - after reading Francisco's teak-jerker of a post - everything else is a little fuzzy - lol).

Thanks

Barbara

I was 23 when I got pregnant. I lost the baby when I was 7 months pregnant. I was pretty sick when the baby died so I really don't remember the date just the feeling. Life goes on and sadness becomes a memory. My son would have been 26. The words, If only I had done things differently many times go through my thoughts. My weight contributed to the loss of the baby.

Ramona, I don't know what to say, (Robynn, and

Pam M are much better at expressing their thoughts

than I), I just can't go away from your post and not

say to you that it was not your fault! When difficult

situations arise for me, it gives me some comfort to

think that God has a purpose for everything, and that

in the end, all will be alright. But I don't went to

be presumptuous and assume that you have the same

belief system... just know that it is not your fault.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss...

Ramona...

When people are caught up in the cycle of addictive eating, or drugs or alcohol or cigarettes...generally they are trying to self-medicate. There is some deep pain or feeling of despair that they cannot seem to control or get under or fix. And, consequently, they aren't always in their most rational mind or place.

To the extent that you did anything that contributed to the loss of your child...it certainly wasn't done on purpose...or from a logical, rational place. Be gentle with yourself. On top of self-medicating some deep pain you had, you then had to suffer the horrible pain of losing a child. I am so so so sorry. But please, forgive yourself. if you had known, if you had been able...if you had been in your right mind...you would never have harmed your child. You know that.

Forgive yourself.
