Guest guest
thanx for the reply. I am only eating legal foods strictly and am following it fanatically! I think I should be staying away from the raw fruits and veggis...do you think I should still do the 1-2 day detox even though I've been on the diet for 2.5 weeks? > > > > I began diet two weeks ago and am doing well. I first had symptoms last year and am now 34 years old. I think I have a pretty mild case and this summer was another flare due to stress...anyway, I was on meds for 5 wks cleared up and now meds free for 1 month and doing well. > > I was advised not to start SCD diet so strictly since I am not currently having any symptoms and can tolerate most foods, but am wondering if theres any big no nos to stay away from? I think I'll stay away from cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and whole nuts as well as beans. Any other recommendations? I really hope I don't have to stay away from raw fruits and veggis because I really rely on those as snacks to get through the day. Any advice? Also, how soon should I know its working? I definitely haven't felt any stomach tenderness since I'm on it, which I felt slightly before...Thanx I'd appreciate anyones input on this area I'm so new at all this > > >
Guest guest
Hi thanx for the response...I was diagnosed with CD 2 months ago and had my first symptom last summer. I've been cooking a ton and experimenting in the kitchen and still trying to figure out which foods I'm still sensitive to and I think it might be raw fruits and veggis...still new to all this. Any suggestions for coffee? > > Welcome Becky, > > It would be helpful to know what your dx is and what symptoms you are > experiencing. Guest guest
I apologize for not being clear in my previous posting. I am fanatically strict on the SCD but was advised not to start with the 1-2 day cleansing diet but just start the diet in regular form due to the mild nature I seem to present. I have been on diet for 2.5 wks eating only legal foods and trying to figure out what foods I'm senstive to i.e. possibly raw lettuce or veggies...Any suggestions for coffee? Do you use almond milk? Thanx so much for suggestions! > > > > > > > I began diet two weeks ago and am doing well. I first had symptoms last > > year and am now 34 years old. Guest guest
Hi Becky, In coffee I use either homemade almond milk or homemade coconut milk. And I still have to water my coffee down a little. Carol CD 21 yrs SCD 5 yrs From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of beckygd28 \ Any suggestions for coffee? Do you use almond milk? Guest guest
Depending on your symptoms, caffeine is a stimulant which makes you go...I tried coffee at about 4 months SCD and did not do well with it. I'm 6 months in, and had to drive late at night the other day, and was able to drink a cup of coffee to stay awake. I'm still not sure I would do this every day, but it's a nice treat. I would go slow on the coffee. Even if something is " legal " , you may not tolerate is right away. Guest guest
Thanx for advice...I actually worked backwards and did intro diet for 2 days and have been strictly on stage 1 (according to pecan bread) for 4 days and feeling fine so thinking of going onto stage 2 in a day or two. I wonder how long before I introduce dairy again or raw fruits and veggis...what's your experience with this? > > Hi Becky, > > In coffee I use either homemade almond milk or homemade coconut milk. Guest guest
I tolerated yogurt right away. I am 6 months on SCD and mostly eat cooked fruits and veggies. I have tolerated small salads when out to dinner with friends but only eat a little bit. IMHO I would go slow. It seems to be the best way on SCD.
