Guest guest
Felt GREAT today. Pain was done, and felt more relaxed than i have in a very very long time. However, I was in a meeting all afternoon. I had a meeting at 6 so I inhaled a turkey patty and some homemade pear sauce. Got home and wolfed down about a cup of chicken carrot soup and some homemade yogurt and honey. Now I am a bit " uncomfortable " do the amount we eat at one time have and impact on anyone or just what we eat? Guest guest
Jill, I don't know about everyone, but I know my husband has problems if he eats too much at one time. Another thing to remember, is that when one is too hungry, they tend to eat too quickly and also not chew things as thoroughly--this might also contribute to your 'uncomfortable' feeling. As you go further in the diet, you will see that the high protein food will last you longer than the high carbohydrate foods that you used to eat. BUT! When you become hungry, that hunger is way more vicious. I call it the 'full body' hunger and for me it is pretty all consuming. Make sure you have things on hand that you can snack on to keep that from happening. For me, and your timing will be different I am sure, I can go about 5 hours between good meals that are higher in protein and fats. I make sure I have something to eat at around that time so that I don't get too hungry. Dried fruit rolls and beef jerky (compliments to Marilyn!) are fantastic. Juice and the dried fruit are a quick legal carbo boost (careful if you have problems with yeast), then the dried beef is a slower acting energy source as well as boiled eggs. Another idea is if you know you are going to be in a long meeting at a bad time, take a cup of warm broth with you. It looks just like a cup of coffee! ; ) Amelia > > Felt GREAT today. Guest guest
Jill My experience on SCD has been that when I eat, what I eat and how I prepare the food all make a big difference to how my digestion handles things. I eat small meals throughout the day so my upper GI doesn't have to work as hard (it isn't up to much, believe me!) How I cook the food can make a difference. And of course what I eat at what times of day also make a difference. Although I have functional digestive disorders, so can expect my digestion to be a lot more tempermental than most, I do think most of us have a similar experience, especially during the first years on SCD. Guest guest
Now I am a bit " uncomfortable " do the amount we eat at one time have and impact on anyone or just what we eat? The amount eaten at one time certainly affects me. I have to keep it to small to medium amounts at a time and I never eat more than I can get (not crowded) on a salad plate. Otherwise I can feel real sick.
Guest guest
Now I am a bit "uncomfortable" do the amount we eat at one time have and impact on anyone or just what we eat?Definitely. Your body can only handle so much at once, and even less if you have bowel disease. I know one of the main tips they give people with UC (IDK about crohns) is to eat smaller meals more frequently. Guest guest
Thank you all. I have felt better today. I am trying not to rush eating, life, or moving to fast on this eating plan. I am going to have dental work done tomorrow so I can finally get some replacements, which should make chewing better and I am sure that should help.
