Guest guest
Here is another reason to incorporate the spice turmeric (tumeric) into your diet – assuming your body tolerates it. http://www.newsdaily.com/stories/tre59r1e0-us-cancer-curry/ Turmeric also has anti-inflammatory properties. Reminder - it is fat soluble (needs some fat- oil, butter, etc. to be absorbed). Carol CD 21 yrs SCD 5 yrs
Guest guest
I ordered what I thought was a single tin of turmeric from Amazon. It cost roughly $10 (including shipping.) Unbeknownst to me they were running a special and I received a case of 16 tins of turmeric -- not a single tin like I thought I was ordering. So now I have something like 8 lbs of turmeric ... LOL! I was under the impression that it was tasteless, but in large quantities I found out that it is DEFINITELY NOT TASTELESS! In fact, it has a nasty, bitter, taste when used in large quantities. I haven't found any recipes that can use a lot of it so I am thinking about getting a bunch of gelatin capsules and making my own turmeric pills. I'm not sure if the gelatin capsules are SCD legal though(?) > > Here is another reason to incorporate the spice turmeric (tumeric) into your > diet - assuming your body tolerates it. > > http://www.newsdaily.com/stories/tre59r1e0-us-cancer-curry/ > > Turmeric also has anti-inflammatory properties. Guest guest
8 pounds of turmeric – LOL! That should last you awhile! Yes, you can put it into empty gelatin capsules. I bought a bag of 500 empty capsules. Turmeric can stain clothing and will turn your fingers yellow-orange…I like to eat it with scrambled eggs – I use ¼ tsp. per 2 eggs. I recently learned it works “better” with black pepper, so when scrambling eggs I heat the butter or oil in a pan, add some black pepper and the ¼ tsp turmeric before adding in the eggs. Turmeric is fat soluble – it needs some fat (butter, oil, etc) with it to be absorbed. Guest guest
Oh my, you ARE well supplied with turmeric! It does have a harsh taste raw, but if you are using it in cooking, you are supposed to saute it for a couple of minutes in some fat, then add to the dish. Don't know if you tried this or not. But it should be perfectly feasible to put in gelatin caps and I think you can buy a gadget that holds the caps to make it easier to fill.
