Guest guest
Bev, you didn't mention which surgery you had. Your protein intake will depend a lot on the surgery you had. I had the vbg and don't malabsorb so I can do about 50 to 65 grams of protein a day. It looks like most of the others that had the rny do about double that 120 to 150 grams. Guest guest
, Thank you!! I have had several liver toxin screens come back bad and also have has some major issues with my kidneys. I know most people don't understand why I need a low protein diet so to see that you do is a huge encouragement I will pray that you do well and thank you again
Guest guest
I seem to remember a posting informing of the max amount of protein one can absorb at one time. I thought that I had saved the message, but apparently did not. And I am unable to find the post on the message board. Does anybody out there have the answer to this question? I have my Pro-complex shake in the afternoon for lunch, and was instructed to have two heaping scoops, however, if my body is unable to absorb all of the protein that both scoops provide, than why bother with the x-tra calories?! Guest guest
Thanks, Eleanor! How long do I have to wait after I've had the first 30 grams until I can have the second? Guest guest
You mean after you finish a protein drink, how long before you can have another? I'd say 1-2 hours. One thing to keep in mind is that the proteins you mix should be consumed in less than 30 minutes. If it's taking longer than that to drink them, make half size ones and drink them more often.
