Guest guest
Do you guys have a favorite way to eat sauerkraut? I'm not sure it sounds very appealing to me, but it does sound very healing, so I'll give it a shot =) Peace =) Alyssa 15 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008 SCD June 2009 (restarted) No meds! I'm not sure it sounds very appealing to me, but it does sound very healing, so I'll give it a shot =) When I was growing up we always had sauerkraut as a side dish with meat, usually my mother's excellent corned beef, but mainly pork or beef things. I liked it. I think the only thing would be, if you don't like sour things, you might want to sneak into it a little at a time til you get used to it. Guest guest
Hey Alyssa.. Try gingered carrots.. It's yummy and delish and isn't straight up cabbage. But I'm kinda biased as I dig kraut. Go slow with drinking the kraut juice.. I would start there and then if you tolerate proceed and chew the kraut very well!! Jodi
Guest guest
My family makes sauerkraut and pork in a crockpot. I always scraped off the sauerkraut and just ate the pork ;-). Guest guest
Holly, You mean the cabbage is fermented and then thrown into the croc with the pork and cooked? Jodi
Guest guest
My mom browns the pork, seasons it, and puts it in the crockpot. She then washes off the sauerkraut (she doesn't like the salt on it) and puts it on top of the pork. She also adds some illegal brown sugar, but I'm sure honey could be subbed. I always liked the taste of the pork, but was leery of eating the sauerkraut. Sometime I'll have to make a legal version and give it a whirl.
