Guest guest
I read that pumpkin seeds are SCD legal but to eat them in small amounts. Do you have to soak them in water first before you cook/eat them?-UC - 1 yearSCD - 3.5 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 4 pills 3 times a day - hopefully scd will help me get off these! No more Hydrocortisone or Prednisone! Windows 7: It works the way you want. Learn more.
Guest guest
, Elaine was against people soaking nuts and seeds as most people don't do it properly. Different molds grow on the nuts and seeds and this can be a disaster (yes, I personally made this mistake and I got sick as dog) If you are planning on soaking.. using a salt water solution and then doing the correct amount of time for whatever it is you are trying to soak is the way to go. The dehydration is a MUST as an extra step as this inhibits all of those wacky molds from over developing. Elaine was hesitant in giving us extra steps along the diet process but it's pretty clear that if we do soak our nuts/seeds it is imperative that we also dehydrate properly. I have a dehydrator. I don't know of slow, low oven methods but I know they are available. Personally I feel soaked nuts and dehydration is the healthiest and easiest way on our digestive system as it inhibits certain enzymes in the nuts. But by now means is this a requirement on the SCD!! So if you are being symptomatic, they may not be the best idea. And especially don't eat a ton - something I did withsesame seeds at one point. Because you feelthe effects.Mara
Guest guest
, If you tolerate them.. After soaking in salt water and PROPERLY dehydrating in oven (look into this how to do it- step by step.. I cannot over emphasize this enough) Maybe you can make a pumpkin seed butter and see how that goes for you? Jodi
