Folks,Anyone using something other than pricey VitaMix or Blendtec for green smoothies? I've done lots of smoothies in regular blender. Reluctant to invest in a VM type......Please send your experience, here or off list.thanks,Ruth> Can you please explain what goes into a "green smoothie"?Sure thing! It's basically a fruit smoothie + greens, such as spinach, kale, chard, romaine, bok choy...whatever floats your boat really =) Collards and mustard greens weren't very tasty though..too spicy! My dad actually posted a youtube video the other day on 'how to make a green smoothie' and I think there are others that you could look at for some suggestions.I encourage anyone to read "Green for Life" by Boutenko. She's done a lot of research and is very convincing, and I think it's a great read for just about anyone who wants to improve their health.Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds

Anyone using something other than pricey VitaMix or Blendtec for green smoothies? My grandma drinks green smoothies every day, and she uses just a regular blender. I will say though, if you do decide to invest, we lOVE our blentec =) My mom, dad and I are fighting each other for it in the morning, and it usually makes at least 5 green smoothies a day. I think if that's not an option for you a regular blender would work just fine! Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds!

My plain old Osterizer worked great for 25 years. Then I started doing

SCD things like making mustard and wore the poor thing out. I bought

another Osterizer, which didn't work as well as my older one. Then when I

was diagnosed with the cancer, I splurged on the Vita-Mix and made lots

of vegetable and green smoothies.

But Oster makes a good blender.

My Osterizer is at least 45 years old now and going strong. But I

get hints every now and then that SCD stuff may be a little hard on

the poor old thing. I think I would be inclined to get a Vita Mix if

this one bites the dust.
