Guest guest
Tarok, 21months, has been on a scheduled dose of morphine every four hours since January. Aside from being perscribed for pain and tremors, it has made a significant difference regulating his temperature and breathing. Prior to being on morphine, he was always either sweating profusely or running a high fever. Now, he seems fine, we don't even bother to check his temperature unless he seems warm anymore. We had to check every hour before. The reason I am writing this is because I've noticed a lot of cases where it may help. I know a lot of doctors are afraid of morphine because it is a narcotic(Tarok's doctors were split right down the middle on opinion), but the biggest risk is long term dependency, which is unlikely if used properly. Besides, what's long term dependency compared to a miserable quality of life? Some of our kids (like Tarok) don't have much of a long term to speak of. Has anyone else here had experience with morphine for purposes other than pain relief? If anyone who reads this is interested in trying morphine I would reccommend speaking with a neurologist, or pharmacologist about it. Hope this message help someone.
