When my daugher gets a sinus infection, we are able to tell without any test. Of course everyone is different, but for her the first sign is black and blue eyes. She is always dark in the eyes, but they look as if someone punched her. Also, usually her face swells up and she cannot breathe through her nose at all. I know from my experience that they are extremely painful to touch in the sinus area. Also she, and I have thick green mucus and it usually causes a sore throat when it finally starts to drain. Our pediatrician usually treats her when the eyes go black and blue. I think anymore she is so used to them, she rarely complains. Her allergist said she is probally going to need surgery, but he wanted to wait until she was at least in her teenage years. Hope this helps

Audrey also gets the dark eyes. She also has the worst dragon breath! Amie, her brother, my mom, and myself have always had a lot of sinus problems. In fact, the last time Amie had one her doctor said the next one she is going to have an MRI done.

Kathy, grandma to Audrey, 32 mos
