Guest guest
Hello Nadia! It's comforting to know you're out there in Singapore lurking. We KSSF veterans will be thinking of you tomorrow. Gity is in Tehran, but we'll be in good hands. (For those who don't know, her doctoral disertation is being translated into Farsi and published there.) This journey has many routes and segments. We start from different on-ramps (causes/issues), pass through the same toll plaza (pre- op/surgery/recovery), then travel our road of maintenance in different lanes at different times (maintenance/relapse/more issues). From pre-op through the first year, things are pretty predictable, but after the first year or two, " All bets are off, " (to quote Sasha). That's why I think veteran's groups are important. " Cruise control " just isn't an effective maintenance strategy for many of us, because that's when the hard work really starts. I like your philosophy of keeping in touch with your " beginner's mind " no matter how far out you are from that experience. I remember my orientation like it was yesterday. What a journey it's been from that Saturday morning! While I don't post a lot on the " cheerleading " aspects, I definately get a thrill each time someone here posts that they've been approved, had their orientation, made their 10%, got a surgery date, etc. because I know what a life saving and life altering this journey has been for me. I hope all my fellow travellers enjoy the gifts this journey has given me.
