Hi,

Here's a copy of the e-mail from a mom with a kid with a PID in Michigan:

Hello! I'm from Michigan as well. We had a very hard time finding an immuno

that had experience with immune deficiencies, most here are allergy specialists

and just don't have first hand experience with the world of immunology as we

know it! Finally after things got desperate for Kody my ped told me he was

going to ask his friend who is an adult immunologist if he'd agree to see Kody.

This guy is awesome and I believe has other children in his office now too (in

the beginning it was just Kody, they were so nice they even bought stickers to

give to him!). His name is and he is in Grand Rapids. When

we go see other specialists and they ask who is Kody's immuno, their responses

are always "Ray ! You couldn't ask for a better immuno!" one

specialist at U of M even called him "the salt of the earth". LOL! We did not see

immuno's at U of M (although we do see Dr on, neurologist there)

because way back at the time U of M was out of network for insurance and we

couldn't get the okay to go there. But I imagine that the immunology department

there is good too. I think that in general the problem we had in finding an

immuno is that Kody's problems were not obvious, the initial blood tests and

things came back normal so the first immuno's just wanted to quit looking for

answers. They didn't know the proper tests or steps to take in diagnosing immune

deficiencies. Of course, if I knew then what I know now, I'd know what tests to

ask for!! LOL!!! Hope that helps somewhat!
