Hi Group, My older son Joe just went for his six month check up with

our Neurologist at Stanford Hospital. The doctor told me that Joe

seems stronger in his shoulders.

We kept Joe swimming on his swim team even after he was diagnosed and

our Doctor thinks that swimming has actually kept him stronger.

I would suggest that you get your kids on the pool. Joe swam at the

Paralympic trials two weeks ago. He was the youngest boy there by

eight years and the people who classify the athlete by their

disability were familar with Mitochondrial issues.

Anyway, Joe was classified as an S10 with a review every year. He

swam the 200 Free and got a silver medal ( only two swimmers were

swimming in his classification) and swam the 100 free and got fifth.

The point being is he was there and my hope is we keep him strong to

keep going there.

Look into swimming for your kids and if you have any questions,

please contact me...

Marie

Swimming is great for our and made a big difference. She has very little pain and loves it! She is getting a above the ground pool for her Birthday today for that reason. Want to keep her going as much as possible and this has been great!

Find a pool, buy a pool or a YMCA or even a physical therapy place.....get them in that pool.

Abbey has been swimming for years. She started out in FL with the

" safe start " program which seemed intense at first but she loved being

in the water - no fear! I would suggest it to anyone. We are looking

into horseback riding for the summer, I hope she does just as well.
