Guest guest
Rhonda Migraines are not trivial. I have had migraines since I was a small child, and they can be completely debilitating. Stress and hormonal shifts are the two most frequent triggers for me. You have definitely been through a very stressful time, probably are more fatigued than usual. But I've also learned that my metabolism and nervous system also play a role, along with reactions to foods, fragrances and environment.... In other words, I get migraines from many causes. Since developing Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (people who get this have had a history of frequent migraines) I've also learned that migraines can be triggered by shifts in the upper GI; in other words, I'll get a migraine after my Sphincter of Oddi goes into a bad spasm. I've also learned about abdominal migraines.... And migraines can also be part of having a faulty nervous system. Since my nervous system began noticeably deteriorating three years ago, for an as yet unidentified reason, I've started seeing and feeling the link between migraines and what I call my neurological "crash" when my body is out of sync for a day or two. Anyway, there are some migraine medications available (my body rejects all of them, alas), but it helps to stay in touch with a neurologist who has run all the tests to make sure there isn't something else going on. Kim M. SCD 5+ years >>>>>>>>>> It seems trivial with the UC and the Kidney disease, but in terms of quality of life, those migraines top my list of things I want figured out. They're getting worse again and I'm terrified.Rhonda

Guest guest
Migraines are definitely not trivial. I was lucky in a way that mine were hormonal and disappeared with menopause. On the other hand I had a late menopause. But even just regular bad headaches are very debilitating and I think worth trying to avoid (if from allergies, etc) if possible. As someone said once, " You can't ignore it when it's your head that's hurting. "
