Guest guest
I recently saw a neuro-ophthalmologist for a full workup. I received a mostly clean bill of health, but I'm still waiting on the full report. Do you have a specific question? I work in this field, so I may be able to help. You can email me privately if you prefer. Guest guest
Hi Myst, Let me see if I understand correctly...based on tests that are pending from your daughter's physician, they may want to have her rechecked by the ophthalmologist? It's possible that there's a question regarding her mito diagnosis, which would prompt them to want to look for specific changes in her eyes. Some forms of mito cause rapid progression of retinal degeneration and optic nerve damage, so if there was a possibility of her having one of those forms of mito, the recheck is not at all unreasonable. What is Abigail's mito diagnosis? Is there any reason to believe it isn't accurate? I'm more than happy to help unravel some of the mysteries of the eyes, so don't hesitate to ask. You can contact me by email (reesanick@...) if you prefer. Theresa > Hi Theresa! > > We took our daughter to the ophthalmologist last week and she received a clean bill of health for her eyes, however the physician made a comment that pending what the other test revealed they might have her come back again in a couple months for additional testing. From what I have read, they did all that is required in regard to mito. A complete report and clinical notes are to follow in a couple weeks. I am wondering if....like so many times before we get the notes and find out that everything wasn't truly normal. How common is it for the ophthalmologist to re-do an evaluation because of test results found in another area? This is important because I do not like the idea of repeating the exam in a couple months. Abigail had a minor reaction to it. She developed a rash on her face after the drops were administered while we were in the office, and the process triggered a severe headache. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated. I admit as the list of inconclusive tests > lengthens...I become slightly more resistant to the suggested testing. > > Myst
