Guest guest
Thanks for the links, Mara. I'm still pretty confused though. The directions on the link didn't seem really clear enough for me. If anyone on here has actually done a vitamin E enema/suppository, do you think you could email me offlist and tell me exactly what you do? I realize this is off topic.. Thanks so much, I feel really stuck =( Peace =) Alyssa 15 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008 SCD June 2009 (restarted) No meds!
Guest guest
I think it's pretty much mix 4000 IUs of 100% natural vitamin E ( NOW brand is acceptable) with 1.5 Tablespoons water into something you can use for enemas (he suggests an ear cleaning bulb thingy - which I have no visual correspondence for - but I wonder if you can simply empty out a fleet enema plastic bottle) and insert rectally before bed or at a time when a BM is not imminent. Continue to lie on your side for at least 5 minutes, allowing the enema to spread through the rectal area and colon. And to combine it with the diet he lays out there, which contains vegetable fiber and some grains - though no gluten. He also says not to combine it with fruit. He also says that the SCD is counterindicated for the procedure - which I had not seen before today - probably because it allows too many fruits. To get the vitamin E, you have to puncture geltabs containing 4000 IUs of vitamin E oil (preferably 4 x 1000) and squeeze. He also suggests working up to 4000 for a few days - but says that for him the procedure didn't work noticeably until he hit 4000. There are also some academic studies cited in the post and the comments. > Thanks for the links, Mara. I'm still pretty confused though.
