Guest guest
That is an interesting question. She does have more trouble when lying on her back or tummy with gagging and reflux. But one thing that worries me is that when I give her a 100 ml. (a little over 3 oz.) bolus, she becomes very unhappy and starts her tummy learching/dry heaves. Even before the tube was placed she was getting a full tummy just after 2-3 oz. and began the vomiting episodes. Shouldn't she be able to hold more than that at her age? When I used the burp tube a little bit ago following the 3 oz. feeding, all I got was a tube full of formula and no burps. Not sure if boluses are a good thing for her yet and I hate to see her so sad. Thanks for the help. Might be something to your info. Darla > Billy did not have the tube as an infant but was having troubles > switching from drip to bolus. They did a study to see how his > stomach was working. Or maybe slows the stomach from emptying? > We stopped working on switching him over to bolus as it was too hard > on him. > Twana
Guest guest
This happened all the time with Adeline as a baby, we had to roll her from side to side for the bubbles to escape through the tube. She is till very sensitive and gags (dry heaves) if she gets to much to fast. Adeline never handled the pump very well, because she needed to be vented more often, like every hour. Getting up every hour to vent her was crazy, I went to just bolus feeding her. She is very sensitive to volume, and had to be increased 5 cc a week to get her where she needed to be. She is still taking the same amount 220 cc 6 times a day, I can not get her over that amount or she will gag. She is also on Reglan and Zanac which seems to help as well.
