I have been on the diet sense the 21st of Oct. I do feel so much better, so

what shockingly so. I have been adding one new food every day or 2. I only had

one questionable addition. Asparagus, which caused me trouble in the past.

I have eaten acorn, butternut, zucchini squashes and pumpkin. I have not had a

problem with any of these.

To night I cook a spaghetti squash and some homemade spaghetti sauce with

tomatoes, onion, garlic, ground beef and basil.

So, I add 2 new foods, the spaghetti squash and the tomatoes. About half way

though eating i started itching and having a burning sensation on my sink.

I have eaten tomatoes all my life, but i do not think is was the squash... could

eating the tomatoes now that i am on SCD cause this, or am i just over

reacting??

Hi Jill,

Well, it could be either of them.

The best way to find out is take a few days off from them and from

intro'ing anything

else that is new.

And then try a tiny, tiny, tiny little portion of 1. Wait two days at

least for symptoms

to appear and if nothing, increase the amount and see what happens.

Then try the other one.

Or you could just wait on reintroducing both of them and go on and add

in other

foods.

Yes, despite having eaten a food all your life, it is perfectly

possible to first become

aware of a sensitivity that you have to a food.

The reason why is a bit complex. First, you are decluttering your

entire gut, so initially,

your gut is having a more direct experience of food. This is

comparable to the fact that

food also tastes differently once you unclutter your palate from all

the junk and the sugar

and the preservatives, etc.

But, as your gut heals, it is quite possible/probable that some of

these new sensitivities

go away.

That is your gut is now hyper sensitive in the early months on SCD.

Most people do

not remain in that situation.

Regards,

Mara

Anyway, that's
