it's legal, but I would be careful with it if you're just starting out.... -UC - 1 yearSCD - 3.5 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 4 pills 3 times a day - hopefully scd will help me get off these! No more Hydrocortisone or Prednisone!

Commercial spice mixtures are not SCD legal because of the chance of

added illegals.

However, you can make your own chili powder, and that is legal -- it's

not hard. I have a recipe, but no time to post it as I must get ready for

my Mom's memorial service.

Probably not. Unless you write the manufacturer of the brand you are

interested in. Too often, it turns out, any mixed spices or herbs

tend to have illegal fillers in them for reasons that are rather unclear to me.

Why don't you just make your own chili powder instead?

anti caking ingredients - because the various spices all

have different textures and abilities to retain moisture,

etc, which shows up over time. As many times spices

are kept in a cabinet a long time and not used quickly.

, your recipe sounds great. Do you know if the dried chillies would be

available

at whole foods? where do you get yours from? I can't wait to try this.

Thanks,

but I can tell you that my favorite spice source is Penzeys.com I use them a

lot.

Are all Penzey's spices legal? I'm looking for pumpkin pie spice, curry powder,

chili powder, garlic powder and an Italian blend that I can count on.

Thanks,

Liz

Penzey's individual spices are legal. NO commercial spice mixture is

legal because of the possibility of the addition of illegals.

You can find a good mix of spices in BTVC for Elaine's pumpkin pie

recipe.

There is a curry powder recipe in Lucy's cook book.

Penzey's garlic powder is probably legal, per the letter in our

library.

I have an really good Italian blend which can be posted later. Or you can

use a couple teaspoons of oregano partnered with 1 teaspoon time for many

things Italian.
