I don't think cutting it would necessarily make a huge difference?

My hair is shoulder length and I have experienced a bunch of it falling out

from about month 3 onwards... I had a little falling out previously post-op

but it has been much more in the past month. I still have hair, though! :)

I haven't really noticed it thinning to the point where I'm excessively

worried, etc.

I may even try that Nioxin.... Hmmmm...

Hi Jen,

Couldn't get to your page.

I guess my hair does look fuller now. Maybe because it's a little

longer, but, believe me, it was coming out by the handful for a while.

However, my suggestion for you is to *not* cut your hair. Be a pity to

cut it and then not have very much fall out. Also, since you have a lot

Hi ,

No, cutting the hair doesn't keep it from falling out. I just think it

makes it less noticeable, easier to fluff and less likely to clog up

the shower drain. I used to have long hair, but had already cut it last

year for a change of pace. Once my hair starts growing back, I just may

let it get long again!

From a normally thin haired person I can only say that for me, short and

light is better than dark and long. The reason I say this is because when

you have dark hair the contrast of your scalp shows up much more and with

length comes weight which pulls the hair down flat against the head.

My grandmother and mother started wearing hairpieces and wigs as early as

thirty. We all have baby-fine hair and they have very thin hair. I'm lucky

enough that my father gave me thicker hair, but it is still baby-fine. Right

now I'm platinum blonde (from brown to purple and then pink) because my hair

is naturally thinning and this almost white color has made a big difference

in making my hair appear thicker. Also, I did have long brown hair at one

time and as my hair thinned it kept looking wispier and wispier. When I

started getting thin spots, my hair would move around (being long and dark)

and the spots were very noticeable. Ever since I cut my hair short, it looks

healthier and thicker and is so much more easy to manage.

Anyway, I agree with the other poster, don't cut until it falls out enough

to show, you might not ever get to that point. Oh, and if it does fall out

and you keep it long, just remember that you will have fuzzies while the new

baby hairs grow back in (another reason I cut my hair when I started to

thin). A good palmade (sp?) will help it look thicker and keep the fuzzies

down.

Oh, one more last tip on getting thicker looking hair is to use a good

*salon* shampoo and conditioner. It really does make a difference getting

the salon kinds rather than the supermarket brands. I personally will never

give up Redken for damaged hair.

Gobo....

I estimate I have lost about a third of my hair in the six months since

my surgery. I am hoping it stops soon!! I don't think anyone else but

me can actually tell...I mostly notice how much less hair I have when I

put it in a braid. My hair is also baby fine but I do have lots so I

guess that has been a blessing.

My hair is not as long as yours--about halfway down my back. Since it

is long I forget to have it trimmed and it just occured to me that a

trim would be a good idea just to cut down on any tangling and

therefore pulling. Might be helpful to you with your even longer hair.

As for your donation--great idea!--my suggestion is that you do it now

while you have the maximum amount of hair on your head. Not everyone

experiences hair loss but it is very common, as you know, and why take

a chance that your donation will be less than it could have been.

I think it's great that you are doing this for those kids who need it!
