Guest guest
I really do not have any experience with this, but I bet MDA, or maybe Easter Seals would be a good place to start. I have seen many vans adapted in very ingenious ways at Gracies school. Many have ramps that come out of the back of the van, then you can hook the actual wheelchair right into the van, ending the need for the carseat. (Of course you would need restraints on the chair also.) I knew of a single mom with an older child who had CP. She had a very nice customized van, and I know she could have never paid for it out of pocket so I am sure there are some charities to help. Best wishes. Guest guest
Hi there! Our Rotary Club here bought the lift for our van and the High School Interact Club paid for the instalation. You might check with them. Best of luck! Horsley Re: Wheelchair lifts/ grants/??? I really do not have any experience with this, but I bet MDA, or maybe Easter Seals would be a good place to start. Guest guest
Hi : We have a mini van and haven't done anything to it yet. But I know that you can take out the middle seat to have the wheelchair be strapped in that portion of the van. Now something we saw at our medical supply place was very light weight portable ramps that fold up. We are considering something like that as we use the ramps at other places to accommodate Leah's chair when she needs to be in a chair more often and a ramp isn't available. They were pretty neat and can fit behind the drivers and passangers seat. If you want me to, I can get more information for you. We thought that was a cheaper way for us to go instead of a lift and also because when we go to our summer place I would be afraid of bottoming out our van when we go on to the ferry boat and up certain driveways. Guest guest
, I know that Shriner's Organization helps families with needed equipment. Just contact you local Shrine, and they should be able to help. I hope Hailee is doing well=) Congrats on your new job! e, Chelsea's mom (nonspecific mito)
