We were approved coverage for COQ10 and B2 through Medicaid! The Mayo biller thought Carnitor and Vit. E was included as well although it specifically wasn't mentioned in the letter. Awesome news, Darla! Glad to hear that finally went through. I am working with Hy-Vee to compound for us. I may seek the help of Mayo for the CoQ10 though if Hy-Vee can't help us out.

I saw in another e-mail your kiddos are coming down with a bug again. We have something going around here too. Just a fever and nothing else. Praise the Lord though, had a fever over 101 the other day and did not have a status seizure! That was a first. Hopefully, we are on the right track with our seizure meds.

I hope you all get to feeling better soon and get some much needed rest.

Darla,

what great news! Did they cover the tishcon brand? I got our Ohio

to cover that and was thrilled. How did you get them to cover the

B2? A couple of her other supplements I am having difficulty getting

covered (B2, lipoic acid, pyridoxine, vit c). What a pain. AS much

as we need the docs to help with diagnoses, someone needs to be

educating insurance companies, pharmacists and the states about the

treatment of mito so our insurance will start to cover it!

I didn't do anything really. Jeanie, who works in Mayo Pharmacy

Billing is the one who did it all. She had Dr. Whiteman give her a

letter as to what he wanted Asenath to be on and why (it was 20-30

pages long I heard) and then she sent it to Iowa Med and they

reviewed the info and said they would cover it. I am sure you could

get the meds you use covered as well as Dr. Whiteman used the words

vitamin Cofactors, which would cover quite a bit. He could mention

the ones you want covered specifically I am sure. We get most meds

from Mayo and they are Tichon I believe so guess that answers that

question. I hope HyVee can help you, but if you decide to go with

Mayo Pharmacy, they are pretty good at getting the meds to you within

5 days usually and I just call a week before I run out of them to

make sure I get them in time.

Sorry to hear you have a bug too. I am hoping that the fever

and asthmatic symptoms are as bad as Asenath and Zipporrah get. Not

to bug you again, but let me know when you have an open evening! :)
