Guest guest
Melatonin has good results, but interfere with steroids???? Melatonin is precursor or it is a hormone can't remember. In the hospital, we used to use good old fashioned benadryl because it is so safe and doesn't interfere with multiple meds. If you can find a legal formulation it might do the trick. The benadryl will also help dry up the fluid buildup. Terry Sleeping Aids I have had to go on steroids for a few weeks for the viralinfection I have in my head that was causing me weeksof fluid buildup on the left side of my head and boutsof dizziness. But now the steroid are interfering with my sleeping -like I'm way up and not sleepy in the middle of thenight - 4:45 AM, a few nights running, even afterwork outs during the day.And the doctor doesn't want to prescribe sleeping pillsbecause he says it might interfere with the steroids. He said to go to the pharmacy and get a recommendationfor something OTC.Anyway, I thought I would ask here about natural sleepingpills - I've never had to get this before, but definitely need itnow, or definitely will if this continues, which I'm assuming,as it is a known side effect.L-tryptophan?Melatonin?Mara
Guest guest
Hi Mara, I'm sorry to hear that the steroids are keeping you up. It's a horrible feeling. I don't have anything to add that you don't already know. Just wanted to wish you " get well soon " . Guest guest
Mara, When I was on steroids, I would sleep a few hours and then be up the rest of the night. My dr prescribed 3 different sleeping pills, none of them did a thing. It continued until I stopped the drugs. You may try taking them in the morning, as far away from night time as possible. Don't mean to be negative, but just sharing my experience. On the upside, my house had never been so clean! heather UC 12 years, SCD 10 months Sleeping Aids I have had to go on steroids for a few weeks for the viralinfection I have in my head that was causing me weeksof fluid buildup on the left side of my head and boutsof dizziness. He said to go to the pharmacy and get a recommendationfor something OTC.Anyway, I thought I would ask here about natural sleepingpills - I've never had to get this before, but definitely need itnow, or definitely will if this continues, which I'm assuming,as it is a known side effect.L-tryptophan?Melatonin?Mara No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG - www.avg.com Version: 8.5.425 / Virus Database: 270.14.63/2500 - Release Date: 11/13/09 07:54:

Guest guest
When I am on steroids I take 2 antihistamine pills before bed time, seems to work great. My Doctor recommended this. UC since 2006 SCD since April 2008
Guest guest
I take Benadryl regularly for sleep (in the early AM, it keeps me asleep for about 4 more hours), but I haven't been able to find any SCD legal brand. Melatonin is " a sleep-inducing hormone secreted by the pineal gland in response to darkness or low light levels " ; since it regulates the circadian rhythm it should be used only at bedtime. Guest guest
Mara, When I was on steroids I always felt like I was speeding. And I could not sit still. I don’t have any remedies, but I hope you find something that will let you sleep. Epsom salt baths? Calcium/magnesium before bed?
